Privacy
What we hold
- If you create an account, itemnumbers stores your name, email address, specialty and state or territory, a scrambled form of your password that cannot be read back, and the public half of any passkey you add. You do not need an account to search.
- Your state can be suggested from your device’s location. That is worked out in your browser; your coordinates are not sent to itemnumbers, only the state you confirm.
- A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
- Searches and bundles are not stored. A bundle lives in the page address, so anyone you send the link to can see its item numbers and durations.
- A description you type or dictate, and any operation note you upload, is read by the AI model that itemnumbers runs itself. Files and text are held in memory only while the answer is produced. They are not saved and are not written to logs.
- When a note is uploaded, the model is told to leave out names, dates of birth, addresses and record numbers before anything else is done with it. Treat that as a safeguard, not a guarantee.
- Dictation uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition. In most browsers that sends the audio to the browser’s maker (for example Google or Apple) to be turned into text.
- itemnumbers uses no advertising or third-party analytics.
Patient information
Do not type or dictate names, dates of birth, Medicare numbers or other details that identify a patient. itemnumbers does not need them to find items. Where you can, remove them from a note before uploading it.
What will change
Practitioner verification and saved cases are planned. This page will be updated before either is switched on, to say what is collected, where in Australia it is stored, who can see it and how to have it corrected or deleted.
